It's Kind of a Funny Story

Rating: 6.5/10
It's Kind of a Funny Story Trailer (HD)

It's Kind of a Funny Story showed a lot of potential from the trailer, but overall I thought that this movie kind of missed the point. I was not sure whether the movie was trying too hard or not trying enough, there just seemed to be something that was wrong. This movie begins with a 16-year-old boy who contemplates suicide, so he checks himself into a psych ward. I always enjoy movies that deal with real-life dilemmas—teen angst is something we all can relate to at some point or another. I love motifs in movies about how our tribulations in life are not unique and that all people have their ups and downs. It's Kind of a Funny Story expresses these ideas well but fails to do so in a dramatic and moving way. The problem with this movie was that it couldn't decide whether it was trying to be funny or serious. I believe that one of the hardest things for a movie to do is have multiple genres that are able to coincide fluidly. This movie was unable to do so repeatedly, which made it lose its appeal.

Catfish

Rating: 8.5/10
Catfish Trailer (HD)

This documentary was unbelievable. Literally, what happens in it is so crazy that it is almost not believable at all. I hate it when people say this, but it leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire movie. It is hard to talk about the movie without giving away any spoilers, but if you have not seen this movie yet, see it! It will change the way you look at some things in life. This was an extremely powerful and entertaining film, which I highly recommend to everyone.

Jackass 3D

Rating: 7/10
Jackass 3D Trailer (HD)

Jackass 3D was very entertaining. It was pretty much everything you would expect from a Jackass movie. The 3D definitely made the movie a better experience but it doesn't have to be seen in 3D. It was a really fun movie to watch and not as repulsive as the past Jackass movies.

Let Me In

Rating: 6/10
Let Me In Trailer (HD)

I typically do not see movies like this because I don't really care for scary movies but this was a remake of a foreign film called Let the Right One In. I never saw Let the Right One In although I really wanted to. Both the original and the remake received great reviews and the movies are not classified as horror. This was more of a movie about love and friendship between a young lonely boy and young girl, who is a vampire. It was a decent movie. Not really my cup of tea, but if you like vampires then you will probably enjoy it.

The Social Network

Rating: 9/10
The Social Network Trailer (HD)

I walked out of this movie wondering why I had not yet started a multi-billion dollar company. Jesse Eisenberg has an Oscar worthy performance for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg. I know a lot of people are thinking that most musicians can't act and they are just in movies to boost box office numbers, but Justin Timberlake is perfect for the role that he plays. The movie never seemed to drag because there are so many different perspectives that it is shot from. I enjoyed every aspect of this movie.
